Mr Chu has almost 30 years of experience in Hong Kong and cross-border initial public offerings and other capital markets and corporate finance transactions, takeover and privatization of listed companies, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings and rescues, private equity investments, and other corporate and compliance matters.

 

Previously he was a partner in the Hong Kong and Beijing offices of two leading international law firms.

 

Qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1995 as well as in England and Wales in 1997, Mr Chu also became a Fellow of the Australian Insurance Institute (now known as the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance) in 1996 and was appointed a China-Appointed Attesting Officer in 2006 by the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China.

 

He served as a member of the Standing Committee on Standards and Development of The Law Society from 2007 to 2010, and as an external examiner at both The University of Hong Kong and the City University of Hong Kong for the Commercial Law and Practice papers of the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws courses from 2005 to 2008.

 

He is fluent in Chinese (Putonghua and Cantonese) and English, and has an advanced level of proficiency in German.
